Shoeing the Goose Beverley Minster, Replica Church Woodcarving 12.5cm / 5 Inches Diameter

£16.99
SKU OD-051-Shoeing the Goose

Shoeing the Goose. Taken from the medieval carvings found on the misericords and supporters in the choir stalls of Beverley Minster. This unique set of carvings seemingly done by the same craftsmen during a short period, they seem to depict aspects and values of every day life. They show scenes with both a sense of humour and teachings of moral importance especially from the view of the Catholic Church. This stunning and most interesting carving shows a Blacksmith fitting a horse’s shoe to a Goose. This is a direct depiction of the well-known English saying, “go shoe a goose”. This saying basically translates as telling a person that they are spending their time doing something pointless, wasting time and to apply effort in something that does not need doing. Taken directly from the original carving this reproduction captures all the fine detail produced by the master craftsmen that carved the original. Designed to be wall mounted.
This one of our unique and exclusive hand crafted medieval reproduction carvings. This is a cast replica produced from a mould taken directly from the original carving found within Beverley Minster, England.

Supplied complete with a quality hanging fixture.
