Green Scapular With Leaflet
The Green Scapular With Leaflet. Size: 2 inches x 1.5 inches. A cloth medal, The Green Scapular, also called The Badge of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, is a Roman Catholic devotional article approved by Pope Pius IX in 1870. It is called a scapular due to its appearance, but is not descended from the scapulars that form part of the habit worn by religious orders. The green scapular consisted of a simple piece of green cloth, rectangular in shape, hanging from a green string. On one side was an image of Our Lady, on the other side of the scapular is pictured her Immaculate Heart. The Heart is pierced with a sword and encircled by an inscription in the form of an oval and topped by a golden Cross. The inscription read: Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us, now and at the hour of our death.
